If you race often, you undeniably have received countless T-shirts and goodie bags, the contents of which often end up in the garbage. But have you ever received a bag of groceries? When asked what makes the Courthouse Classic unique, Race Director Gary Grogg said their sponsor, Miller’s Super Value, hands out a $10-15 bag of groceries to race participants including one made especially for the kid athletes.

The Courthouse Classic is a competitive one miler, a kids one mile fun run and a USATF-certified 5K race that will take place on Saturday, June 16 in LaGrange, IN; it is open to competitive runners, walkers, fun runners and kids of all ages. The one miler is a competitive event and with a fast flat course it’s just begging for a PR. The 5k course is also fairly fast with two small hills. Both races have the same start and finish line at the county courthouse in LaGrange.

Runners or walkers can sign up for the Classic until June 10 for $14 and until race day for $20. (Online registration is at www.courthouseclassic.com). Grogg says, “If we didn’t have the sponsors that back us we couldn’t offer that price.” And with lunch already in the bag, you could spend the money you saved on a latte or lottery ticket.
