Run the Vinyard 5K trail run, Lemon Creek Winery, Berrien Springs, MI

8am, Saturday, Aug. 11    RunTheVineyard5K.org

Do you run for wine, or whine for run? Either way, you’ll savor this new 5K event hosted by Family and Court Advocates of Berrien County.

Run the Vineyard 5K is a trail run through Lemon Creek Winery’s fruit farm in southwest Michigan. The chip-timed course will lead participants through trails past grapevines, apple trees and berry bushes. Hill, grass and dirt paths encompass a rustic course in the heart of the season.

Post-race, refresh and recover with a complimentary glass of Lemon Creek wine.

Of course this race is not just for wine enthusiasts, organizers are making it a morning that will be fun for all ages, including families and groups. But if you do have passion for the grape, keep your eye on the prize—bottle of wine and Fleet Feet gift certificate. Awards will be given to first through third male, female and overall winners.

Post-race, you’ll be invited to pick fruit in the vineyard, shop the market and of course, refresh & recover with a wine tasting in the Lemon Creek Winery tasting room.

Organizers send a special note of thanks to their sponsors this inaugural year, including Lemon Creek Winery, Fleet Feet Mishawaka, Pepsi (water, Gatorade & Pure Leaf tea,) The Herald Palladium newspaper, Infusco Coffee Roasters and Rise-n-Roll Donuts (yum!)

Proceeds for Run the Vineyard 5K will benefit Family Court Advocates of Berrien County, a non-profit organization that manages court-ordered volunteer community service programs in Berrien County. The group also serves to strengthen families by providing advocacy outreach and educational programs and services to parents and children who are involved in the legal system.
