Bonneyville Mill County Park, Bristol, IN, Saturday, Oct. 27

Boo Ha Ha! Enter at your own risk!  Some people try to blend in by wearing costumes!

The custom “Haunted” finisher medals a always the favorite treat.

If you like running on rolling, paved country roads lined with old-growth trees, horse farms and open space, this run’s is for you. All four events — half marathon, 10k, 5K, mile run — start and end at Bonneyville Mill in Bristol, IN, just five minutes off the Indiana Toll Road.

Monster Mile course is a  lovely path through the woods  on a trail that passes by one of the most photographed creek areas in the area and will be staffed by the Boy Scouts again this year. They’ll keep you safe!

The Frightening 5K course (3.1 miles) is an out-and-back paved route from Bonneyville Mill up a grade to LoveWay riding stables and then back.  “Runners are always happy to see that turnaround point for the downhill grade to the finish line,” said race director Paula Turk, Stone Soup Promotions.

The Terrible 10K course (6.2 Miles)  gives runners plenty of hills for for the buck. “People have been asking for a 10K, because they wanted to push themselves, but were just not ready for the full half,” Paula said.

Beware, some have been know to get a PR when chased by the headless horseman. (OK, it may be a little extra hilly for a PR, and the horse won’t chase you—but the effect sure adds to the fun and festivity of the morning!)

“Haunted Hilly Half Marathon “You’ve  basically got a three-mile warm up into the rollers. Then a nice downhill grade over to Middlebury where you can hammer out some quick splits,” Paula said. Hint: “Do save some for the end because the race starts around mile 10 where you head back up and over those hills you have been winding down.” The Hilly offers “three good climbs” with an even better downhill effort after mile 12 to bring it on home.

It’s late October, and typically beautiful, mid-40s running weather with equally beautiful running views.

There will be finisher medals for all with prizes for overall top three winners in the 5K, 10K  and Half Marathon, along with Age Group awards three deep in 15 standard age groups.

More in it for the fun than the fast? There will be plenty of prizes for costumes in new categories — kids, adults, home made, super hero, etc.
