ST. JOSEPH, MI —Looking for an inspiring summer run? The Race for YMCA will take you on a unique route along the St. Joseph River, Lake Michigan and through downtown St. Joseph.

“We encourage families to come out to the race and be healthy together while having fun,” said Monica Norton, race director and director of Healthy Living at the YMCA of Southwest Michigan. “Whether you or walk or run, it’s a beautiful, scenic course we think everyone will enjoy.” The family-friendly event is open to people of all ages and both the 10K and 5K races are chip-timed and travel loop-courses that start and finish at the Margaret B. Upton Arboretum.

Proceeds for the Race for the YMCA benefit the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor YMCA and will help provide opportunity for hundreds of children in the community to attend programs, including summer amps, after-school programs and a preschool to name only a few, at little or not cost through financial assistance.

Overall male and female in each event will receive a trophy. Top three 5K run and 10K run finishers in each age group, top three female and male walkers and all children who finish will receive a medal.

The 8th annual Race for the YMCA 5K/10K is presented by Chemical Bank. With sponsors including 98.3 The Coast, Eagle Technologies, Hanson Logistics, and Hanson Mold, proceeds help provide the opportunity for hundreds of children in the community to attend Y programs, including summer amps, after-school programs and a preschool to name only a few, at little or not cost through financial assistance.
